Matchmaking Niche

August 9, 2012 by angelsmith

Niche is in… especially when it comes to matchmaking.  We’ve seen the evolution of dating sites go from eHarmony and Match.com to sites that match by religion — Jdate and ChristianMingle — to sites that now match by occupation.  FarmersOnly  anyone?  This niche matchmaking boom has also been the trend in job boards.  Massive sites like Monster and Hot Jobs have seen their businesses decline while niche boards have advanced.   Job boards can be found for almost every industry, region and occupational specialty.

At PR Talent, our focus has clearly been on public relations.  For 14 years, our executive recruiting business  has been matching talent to task for companies and PR agencies across the country.  Matching talent to task is what we do every day… and we are now expanding that expertise to include PR dedicated job boards that will focus on the hottest specialties in public relations: Technology, Healthcare, Social Media and Freelance opportunities, as well as an overall PR jobs site.  This is a unique offering that shines a spotlight on areas of consistently high demand for public relations talent.  Social Media has changed the face and fueled the growth of the public relations industry over the past few years.  The ability to understand how to leverage social media tools has steadily moved from the category of “like to have” to the category of “must have” in the job descriptions of most PR employers.  It’s now the ticket to entry for most junior PR professionals and the demand for this skill is growing every day.

On the industry side of the equation, technology and healthcare continue to drive PR demand across a wide range of sectors.  Technology companies are looking for PR expertise spanning deep tech, clean tech, consumer tech, video games, mobile, wireless, app’s… basically digital anything.  And the healthcare industry has similar depth and breadth needs spanning pharma, hospitals, biotech, medical devices, wellness and so on.  The communications needs for the industry are impressive for both public relations and public affairs expertise.  Consistent demand for PR talent across all industries has also spurred the development of a varied and deep pool of freelance talent that is more robust than ever.  In fact, PR Talent has been building a freelance network since its inception in 1998 and today offers thousands of communications professionals for hire across industry and communications specialties.  Our new freelance job board will be a resource for employers and freelancers who want to meet-up online while our executive recruiting freelance services can build complete PR teams, and offer deep support by specialty and geography.

Our all encompassing new job board, PRTalent.jobs, showcases PR positions of every stripe and is meticulously managed by a company who’s only job is matching public relations professionals to the right opportunity.  That’s us… the little old matchmakers.  We don’t publish a magazine, a newsletter or run an association.  We play the merry matchmaker in all forms and at all times.  And, as part of our matchmaking service, our job board sites – and our soon to be relaunched executive recruiting site — are delivering added services to talent including professional Career Coaching, Resume Writing services and the ability to tailor job searches.

With these 5 new boards, we’ve added significant depth to our public relations matchmaking offerings… although FarmerPR.jobs may still be a little down the road for us.
