Our client owns and operates a valuable portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks. They are looking to hire a Publicist to work on business news for their Englewood Cliffs, NJ office.

In addition to TV, the client also has a vast portfolio of digital products which deliver real-time financial market news and information across a variety of platforms. Online destination for global business; integrated desktop/mobile service that provides real-time global market data and live access to global programming; and a suite of mobile products including iPhone and iPad Apps.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with VP, PR to manage internal/external communications and press efforts for Business News as well as public television
• Conceptualize, craft and pitch stories to national and local media to generate maximum, positive publicity for Business News programs, long form documentaries and talent 
• Work closely with the newsroom to identify and disseminate breaking news and big interviews 
• Partner with internal teams including editorial, marketing, research, sales, digital and social media to identify publicity opportunities 
• Help create and execute strategic PR plans for award-winning long form documentaries including research, building media lists and pitching and coordinating interviews for talent and producers 
• Manage relationship with Newschannel to maximize coverage of client's Business News stories/reports on affiliate stations across the country. Identify and pitch stories daily 
• Assist and execute special events including conferences and big news events 
• Work with the production team, presenting station and maintain positive relationships with the public television stations across the country 
• Generate press materials including news releases, bios, media alerts, programming announcements, pitch letters and talking points 
• Cultivate positive relationships with talent, producers and newsdesk 
• Create, manage and update targeted and specialty media lists 
• Coordinate and supervise various media requests to support Business News including interviews, on-set visits and photo shoots 
• Manage the awards entry process for Business News 
• Manage and plan events for talent including book and anniversary parties 
• Coordinate and pitch radio interviews for talent 
• Build and maintain positive relationships with business, consumer and trade press 
• Support the daily operations of the Business News team 
• Manage internal photo system and work with photo desk as well as  photography to schedule photo shoots for Business News programs, talent and events 
• Work closely with graphics to create assets needed to promote Business News programs and long form documentaries 
• Manage specialty project requests from Corporate Communications and Diversity teams 
• Oversee program highlights 
• Monitor competitive environment via daily review of competitive/industry news


• 3-5 years of Public Relations experience, specifically working on business news 
• Experience in television or print media industries preferred 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills – written and verbal 
• Ability to work independently and with a team 
• Ability to maximize opportunities and thrive in a fast-paced, detailed-oriented environment 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines 
• Energetic, creative and assist in idea generation
